Overview
Today's generation is raised alongside technology, and the pace of life has accelerated. The demand for small devices and fast communication has grown, leading to many options for users. While many choices are available, most apps share a common approach to user-friendliness.
In my role, I needed to discover ways of incorporating new features without significantly raising the overall complexity, while keeping customers delighted.
01
Fast conversation is the key
The app used a mailbox/compose type of flow designed for much slower communication, most commonly found in email apps. In this concept, we wanted to explore patterns that are common in chat apps and that facilitate faster communication.

To showcase this faster, simple yet richer app, we designed the following areas:
• Conversations list (threads): a quick and straightforward overview of all conversations.
• Composer with a thread: easy to follow the chronology of a conversation, and it serves as a composer as well.
• Contact list: an overview of all contacts, with the ability to invite or start a conversation.
• Profile: lets users personalise their appearance for friends and extend their contact list.
• Store for additional characters.
02
Conversations list
Starting screen with a list of all message threads, featuring a small preview of the last message.

03
Composer with a conversation thread
A fast and efficient method for composing, sending and reviewing entire message threads, through intelligent use of our technologies, including voice-to-text.

04
Contact list
A clear list of all friends using AniMates and all other contacts (phone, social and so on) that you can easily invite from their contact detail pages.

05
Behind the scenes
For this project we used Axure RP as our primary tool to develop wireframes and functional prototypes efficiently. We tested these prototypes with users and customers and made the necessary changes promptly.
As the project progressed, we focused on refining the interactions and transitions. We explored new tools such as Quartz/Facebook Origami and Pixate to aid in this process.
